Privacy, cookies and advertising

Plain language, no dark patterns. This page exists because a site that carries advertising is required to say these things clearly — and because making an outage board trustworthy starts with being straight about how it is paid for.

What we store

  • If you create an account: your email, a PBKDF2 hash of your password (never the password), an optional display name and country, and when you signed in.
  • Your watchlist: which services you follow.
  • Sessions: an opaque cookie token, expiry, and a CSRF token. Signing out deletes the row.
  • Community reports: the service, the category, an optional note, the time, and a salted one-way hash of your IP address so the same person is not counted twice. We do not store the raw address.
  • Alert subscriptions: the email you gave and your service/severity preferences.

What we do not do

  • No selling or sharing of personal data with advertisers.
  • No third-party analytics or tracking scripts loaded on status pages.
  • No cross-site trackers of our own.
  • No ads shown to signed-in accounts on operational pages, and none inside alert emails.

Advertising

When advertising is switched on, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and others. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies at aboutads.info.

Ad placements on this site are labelled, kept below the status reading you came for, and are never made to look like a status result. Partner links are marked rel="sponsored".

Cookies this site sets

Keeps you signed in. HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax, deleted on sign-out.
Ad cookies
Only present when advertising is enabled on this deployment, and only on public status pages.

Your choices

  • Use the board without an account — everything public stays public.
  • Delete your account from the account page at any time.
  • Unsubscribe from alerts with the link in any alert email.
  • Block ad cookies in your browser without losing any status functionality.
